Seerp
The warmth of Goiânia playing inside a grey afternoon in Utrecht.
About the artist
Seerp turns the distance between Brazil and the Netherlands into saudade-hop: instrumental beats, bossa and MPB harmony, nylon-string guitar, Rhodes and rain against the window.
Listen to Seerp.
Seerp makes music for studying, working and missing a place. His saudade-hop joins the instrumental language of lo-fi hip-hop with the harmony of bossa nova, MPB and Clube da Esquina. Nylon-string guitar, Rhodes, soft drums and Brazilian percussion arrive under layers of tape, dust and quiet environmental sound.
The project's world sits between Goiânia and Utrecht. On one side are family kitchens, late-afternoon warmth, birdsong and Brazilian records. On the other are canal rain, bicycles crossing wet pavement, bells and train announcements. When both places enter the same loop, distance stops being only a subject and becomes part of the sound itself.
Almost entirely instrumental, Seerp prefers suggestion to explanation. A distant voice, a phone message or a street sound may surface for a few seconds before disappearing again. The result is intimate, comforting and gently melancholic.
