About the label

Music with an origin. Never a mould.

Pequi Tape is an independent Brazilian record label bringing together artists from different worlds while protecting what makes each one unmistakable.

Pequi Tape

Why pequi?

Pequi is a cerrado fruit deeply connected to Goiás. Its colour, aroma and flavour are entirely its own — it is impossible to encounter without noticing. The name Pequi Tape carries the same idea: music that reveals where it comes from and stays in the memory.

One label, four languages.

Moda de viola, sample pop, saudade-hop and aura phonk live here without losing their differences. The connections between releases, artists and the label give each work context, bring listeners closer and build a recognisable Brazilian catalogue.

Portrait of Anatálio & Sábia

Moda de viola

Anatálio & Sábia

Brothers from rural Goiás, Anatálio leads on viola and first voice; Sábia, Joaquim's childhood nickname, answers on acoustic guitar and harmony. Together, they turn family memories and the cerrado into new moda de viola songs.

Portrait of Zeca Pixel

Sample pop

Zeca Pixel

Zeca Pixel turns everyday sounds from Goiás into sample pop: Brazilian funk drums, arrocha swing, digital fragments and a bright voice that sounds as though it escaped from a phone message.

Portrait of Seerp

Saudade-hop

Seerp

Seerp turns the distance between Brazil and the Netherlands into saudade-hop: instrumental beats, bossa and MPB harmony, nylon-string guitar, Rhodes and rain against the window.

Portrait of VULTO

Aura phonk

VULTO

VULTO is a masked figure in Brazilian aura phonk, built from distorted 808s, melodic cowbell, echoes of baile and a cold Portuguese voice.
